Information for Educators
Sail to See Expedition 2107-19 is a project created by the crew of the Sailing Catamaran Elcie.
With the help of scientists, designers, educators and students, our mission is to provide your classroom with a virtual Around the World Sailing Voyage. Hopefully, it will inspire your students to become more curious about remote islands and other countries. The crew will model sustainable practices through use of wind, solar and hydro generated energies used to power our vessel. We also want to highlight some of the environmental issues facing island and coastal communities and to provide little changes that all can make to help prevent pollution and dependence on fossil fuels.
We will always welcome the suggestions of teachers, parents and students as to how we can make this website serve you better. Feel free to contact us at anytime.
Sail to See Features:
Q and A: Your students can ask us questions about anything they might be curious about regarding our voyage. We will answer as many of their questions as we can. Please use student's first name and school name only.
LOGBOOK ENTRY: Read the latest logbook entry from the crew of Elcie. Logbook entries will be released bi-weekly. We will describe our last passage and the weather and what animals or ships we have seen. We will also add stats on miles and fuel consumption. If we are in port, we will highlight the country we are visiting by depicting a map, the flag, currency, religions, and highlights of our visit through photos and video.
TRACKER: Check the tracker to find Elcie's latest position. See brief updates from the crew.
